Headlines:
Itās been a tiring but satisfying week. Trying to remember that all work and no play makes Jem lose the plot a bit, so I made myself do some nice things.
Went to Emma Smartās talk on āLethal Lesbiansā - part of the Queer Networkās LGBT History month. I liked it when Emma shuddered at the Sharon Stone/Michael Douglas kiss.
Caught up with some Youtube over the weekend too.
Went for lunch with my girlfriend and passed this peculiar sight that made me happy. Big Ben with a tropical vibe.
Wow, having two other content designers is āAMAZING š„³. I knew it would be, but it has actually exceeded my expectations. Content design is something that you have to do with other people, itās collaborative by nature, so having two other people around to constantly crit and suggest things is heavenly. Long may it continue.
When you start a new job, youāre full of questions and usually quite conscious of not wanting to ask too many questions. Itās an additional burden that you donāt really need. Weāre trying to address this at the BFI with our work on creating a ānew starterā welcome space on the intranet.
Weāre hoping itāll offer answers to some of the questions people have, and hopefully make them feel a bit more secure and content. First sprint is done, now onto the next!
Jill, one of our new content designers, has been powering through this and itās been great seeing her work with stakeholders and the intranet product manager and do the rewrites in such a seamless way.
Iām understanding my role a bit more now as we endeavour to create an environmental sustainable, inclusive and digital-first BFI.
Getting more involved with fund guidelines redesigns, semi-related to the inclusion work. Watch this space.
Emily, another one of our new content designers, has started smashing through donation and Gift Aid content that weāve got on our cinema website. Emily also picked up on around ten instances of Gift Aid text across different BFI platforms that she saw an opportunity to standardise, which is always music to my ears.
Finished No Good Deed - really disappointing ending I thought.
I listened to the You Must Remember This podcast (thank you Clarissa) and started with an episode about Judy Garland. She was treated so so badly, I knew about some of it, but it was truly shocking. Really good storytelling though, I enjoyed the podcast despite the depressing content.
To no oneās surprise, Iām still reading War and Peace. But Iām about halfway through now. I also bought a few books on the weekend from one of my favourite bookshops in London: Bookmongers of Brixton.
