Another week that sped by.
Got a lot written this week for a set of fund guidelines. Can’t share much until it’s been through the approval process but I can share a before and after comparison of a section I’ve done.
Believe it or not, I’ve not removed a lot of information in the ‘after’ content. I’ve been able to consolidate and summarise a lot of the requirements into single lines and construct it in a way that should make a lot more sense to the person it’s aimed at.
Before and after content design
I have a meeting in the diary for January to meet with the NETWORK team and the Operations, Partnerships and Projects team to discuss this rewrite and reconstruction. Will update when that rolls around.
Went to a staff screening hosted by the Disability Alliance Network to celebrate International Day of Disability. Got to watch Is There Anybody Out There? and it was fantastic. Shocking and heartbreaking in places and very funny in others. Please do give it a watch.
The screening was followed by some beers with colleagues too, which was obviously great.
First time in the Stephen Street screening room
I got invited to a launch party for the London Made Me shop in Carnaby Street because my friend works for the Greater London Authority - took a nice photo of the street (below) and did some good networking. Had my first eager filmmaker tell me all about his project idea, believing I would be able to give him some helpful advice, or £150,000 to fund it. To his credit, he very quickly realised I wasn’t going to be useful to him.
The lights on Carnaby Street were stunning
I have felt very ADHD-brained this week, which has been frustrating. Sometimes it is very much an under-the-radar thing for me, and I’m able to get on with things and work through it. You get quite good at masking generally, but sometimes it just knocks me and I feel a bit manic.
The good thing is that since having a formal diagnosis I have been able to understand myself better. So when I have these moments where my brain feels like a Jackson Pollock painting, I am more patient with myself and I can access tools to help me do things.
I also like to remind myself that my ADHD is a good thing. Yeah, it sometimes feels like I have a hundred floating tabs open in my brain at once, but it’s probably partly why I can think creatively and design innovatively.
I’ve been out a fair few evenings this week, so haven’t had much of a chance to sit down and watch anything.
I finished reading The Jakarta Method which was haunting. And I’m about halfway through The Brothers Karamazov which is just a spectacular piece of writing.
Don’t want to talk about the football. No, I really don’t want to talk about the football.
